Holland Homes originated from an auxiliary group of First Baptist Church in East Winston-Salem, NC. The Church was nearing the conclusion of a construction project of what was referred to as its annex that time. In August 1967, seven people incorporated the G.W. Holland Housing Corporation as a non profit corporation. The original incorporators were as follows: N.H. Bausman, H.D. Haith, R.B. Lewis, C.I. Sawyer, H.E. Staplefoote, and G.H. Vaughn. In 1973, the corporation received HUD funding to acquire land and to build the community that would be known as Holland Homes.
